Bill was a man who knew no strangers. He spent his early years in Giddings and later in Austin, Texas. He attended Schreiner Military Institute in Kerrville, Texas. After retiring from IBM, he had several small businesses. His passion was his family and the great outdoors. He spent quality time fishing and hunting with his family and countless friends in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. Bill enjoyed going FAST - racing boats for fun was one of his greatest passions, his bass boats had to be just as fast! His biggest love was jetboats, along with Bill Jr., enjoying many hours together on the water. Bill was fiercely proud of his family, extended family, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved teaching them about fishing and hunting. He was fortunate in the last 2 years of his life, learning his birth parents’ names and finding a brother, Mickey Pattillo, wife Melinda and daughter, Carolyn Porterfield that gave him great joy. While enduring many health problems the last several years of his life, he often referenced to himself as being the energizer bunny because he couldn’t be stopped! He was a man of great faith and loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, giving him praise and thanks every day. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Austin Christopher House or to the charity of one’s choice.
