Funeral services for Ruby Koslan, 93 of Giddings, Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, Texas with Rev. Robert Tiner and Vicar Josh Hahn officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Ruby Mae Koslan was born on July 20, 1928 in Green’s Creek, Texas, a small farming community and “suburb” of Giddings. She is the daughter of Fritz and Hattie (Moerbe) Fischer. She was baptized on July 29, 1928 at Bethania Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green’s Creek by Rev. August Lugenheim. On March 29, 1942, she was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Max Studtmann. Her confirmation verse was 1 Cor. 6:20, “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.” Ruby attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Giddings High School in 1946. On June 20, 1948, Ruby was united in marriage to Charley Koslan at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. Max Studtmann. For over 54 years she worked at various offices in Giddings as a secretary, including her husband’s business Koslan Brothers. She always looked forward to traveling. Ruby was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was active in many different ministries. She could always be found welcoming visitors and greeting people on Sunday mornings. Ruby was also very active in the Giddings community. She volunteered at the Texas Wendish Heritage Museum and Rejuvenation in Giddings. Ruby was also a member of every heritage society in Giddings – German, Wendish, and Lee County. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Ruby enjoyed looking at old pictures, reminiscing about times long ago, and being with her family and friends. Ruby passed away the morning of Friday, May 20, 2022 in Leander. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hattie Moerbe Fischer and Fritz Fischer, and her husband, Charley Koslan. She is survived by her brother, Melvin Fischer and his wife, Judy Fischer of Magnolia, Texas; her daughter, Margot Koslan and her husband, Joe Liccese of Liberty Hill, Texas; her son, Marcus Koslan and his wife, Lisa Koslan of Bryan, Texas; her granddaughter, Kaci Koslan of Garland, Texas, and Terrell, Anna, Jordan, and Noah Wright of California, Jaeron Cooper and Jenny Matt of Houston; grand-dog, Tyco Koslan of Bryan; grand-cat, Scout Koslan-Liccese of Liberty Hill, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and former neighbors all over Texas. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Bernell Koslan. Serving as pallbearers will be Marcus Koslan, Joe Liccese, Tim Fischer, Nathan Wenke, Chris Stueber, and Bill Koslan Jr. Her children wish to extend their sincere thanks to all of the caregivers at Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Giddings, St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange, Encompass Hospital in Round Rock, and The Legacy at Crystal Falls in Leander for all of the loving care and support that you gave to their mother over the last year and a half. They especially appreciate the gift of time. Memorials may be made to the Ring the Bell Campaign at Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Christian Care Ministry at Immanuel Lutheran Church, or to a charity of one’s choice.
