Graveside services for Rocky Spacek, 64, of Ledbetter, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Doe Prairie Cemetery located at 1699 County Road 125 in Ledbetter, Texas with Wayne Jones officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Saturday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Rocky Troy Spacek was born on February 20, 1957 in Giddings, Texas, the son of George Emery Spacek and Marlene (Dodd) Spacek. He married Darlene Urban on June 17, 1978 at the Church of Christ in Giddings, Texas. They were blessed with four daughters, Amber, Autumn, Alesha, and Adyson. Rocky passed away the afternoon of Wednesday, October 27, 2021 in Ledbetter. He was preceded in death by his parents. Rocky was a man of many talents. After graduating from Giddings High School, he was employed by Bobby Lehmann Texaco. After a few years, he became the owner and operator of a heavy equipment company called Spacek Construction. He then got into the oilfield where he worked 20 years for WCS Oil and Gas. Rocky then returned to his love of working with heavy equipment by starting his own company, Outdoor Construction. After nine years, he sold his business and was able to fulfill his dream of having his own cabin in Colorado. There he spent his days hunting, outfitting, and enjoying time in the mountains with some of the people he loved most. He was a member of the Church of Christ and former President of the Dime Box Youth Rodeo Association, where he spent many hours watching his daughters rodeo. Rocky was also co-chairman of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and a volunteer firefighter for the Giddings and Dime Box Volunteer Fire Departments. Rocky enjoyed helping barbeque at Jake’s BBQ in Dime Box. He was known for his fried ribs and brisket at the Rocky Mountain Lodge 4th of July events. He instilled the love of the outdoors and hunting within his children and grandchildren. After having four daughters, he finally got his boys. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play basketball, football, and other events they competed in. He also enjoyed coaching them on the sidelines, even if it got him kicked out of a game or two. He loved spending time with his nephews and playing “name that tune”. He was a prankster with quick wit and enjoyed making people laugh or getting a quick rise out of them. Rocky may have appeared rough around the edges to some, but he had a heart of gold. Although he was rough and tough, he also had a soft side for the things dearest to his heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He worked hard but loved harder and left a lasting impact on anyone he came in contact with. He was loved by many, and his memory will live in our hearts forever. Rocky is survived by his wife of 43 years, Darlene Spacek of Ledbetter; his children, Amber & Adam Nietsche of Giddings, Autumn of Houston, Alesha & Jenny of Boise, ID, and Adyson of San Marcos; seven grandchildren, Gillian, Avanly, and Grayson Nietsche of Giddings, Masyn Spacek of Ledbetter and Mya Spacek of Houston, and Kya and Zoch Urban of Boise; five siblings, Ricky and Melanie Spacek of Georgetown, Rusty and Sherry Spacek of Ledbetter, Robyn and John Brockenbush of Lexington, Rebecca and Ray Hooks of Ledbetter, and Ronica and Russell Iselt of Lexington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Cathy Siegeler of Giddings, Gene and Karen Urban of Giddings, Kenny and Fran Urban of Giddings, Ronnie and Debbie Urban of Cypress, Glen Schultz of Ledbetter and numerus nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Shawn Spacek, Seth Spacek, Sloan Spacek, Kyle Spacek, Keith Spacek, Ryan Brockenbush, Phil Brockenbush, Landon Langley, Casey Iselt, Garett Urban, Michael Siegeler, Justin Siegeler, and Clay Urban. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Atanian, Jacob Beran, Phil Brummell, Bart Crawford, Kent Jarnagin, Gaylon Michalk, Clint Oppermann, Steve Perry and Danny Anderson.
