Funeral services for Bob Lawrence, 78 of Waller, Texas, are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Tim Pitts officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. Odais Robert (Bob) Lawrence died after a brief battle with cancer on May 23, 2022 in Bryan, Texas. Known alternatively as Bob, Bobby, and Little O, Bob was born in Brenham, Texas on January 16, 1944. As a kid, he played sports and worked at the family service station. As an adult, he met and married the love of his life, Brenda Hoffmann Lawrence, fought in the Vietnam War, and raised a family. Bob was many things to many people. Bob was a traveler. While working for the railroad, Bob and Brenda crisscrossed the state. They stayed in travel trailers and motels - they didn't need luxury in those days. Bob was a storyteller – a kind of old cowboy sitting around a campfire telling tales. Give him five minutes or five hours and he’d have you laughing. Bob was a baker. He loved to get his hands in a good piece of dough and get a few pats on the back for his bread work. Bob was a historian. He could educate you on the ancient Greeks, the battle of the Alamo, or WW2. Bob was a musician. He taught his kids and his grandkids his love of music and tried (and failed) to teach them to play the guitar and sing as well as he did. Bob was a fisherman. He never met a 75-pound catfish he couldn’t catch and fry up. Most of all though, Bob was a son, a father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, and a nephew. He believed his duty to his family trumped all else. He was so proud of his kids and grandkids. He rested knowing he loved and was loved. Bob is preceded in death by his father, Odais Riley Lawrence. Left to love and remember him are his mother, Sally Margurite Dodd Lawrence; his wife, Brenda Hoffmann Lawrence; his son, Vince Lawrence and wife Alice Martin Lawrence; his daughter, Tina Lawrence and partner Gary Siddons; his grandchildren, Chancellor Lawrence and wife Danielle Weedman Lawrence, Chadwick Lawrence and wife Alexie McGuire Lawrence, Zachary Lawrence, Halle Lawrence, and Chloe Lawrence; his great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Lawrence, Sophia Lawrence, Emma Lawrence, Saylor Lawrence, and Walker Lawrence; his sister, Betty Lawrence, and his nephew, Casey Lawrence. Honorary Pallbearers are Casey Lawrence, Chancellor & Danielle Lawrence, Chadwick & Alexie Lawrence, Zachary Lawrence, Halle Lawrence, Chloe Lawrence, Kyleigh Lawrence, Sophia Lawrence, Emma Lawrence, Saylor Lawrence, and Walker Lawrence. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
