Funeral services for Michael Kieschnick, 67 of Lincoln, Texas, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. Dale Bohm officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Michael James Kieschnick was born March 29, 1954 in Giddings, Texas. He was one of six children born to George Adolph Oscar Kieschnick and Edna Lorine (Winkler) Kieschnick. He was baptized on April 15, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln by Rev. H.A. Strobel and confirmed on April 7, 1968 also at St. John Lutheran Church by Rev. Carl Biar. Michael’s conformation verse was Acts 16:31, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” Michael was united in marriage to Janet Deal on March 10, 1973 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln by Rev. Carl Biar. Michael worked in construction. He enjoyed bar-b-quing, making homemade wine, growing vegetables in his huge gardens he always had, curing homemade bacon, and processing wild game meats. He loved to hunt and fish, as well as take trips to the coast. Michael was a loving husband and father and a devoted grandfather, teaching his grandkids about hunting, farming, and the love for family. Michael passed away the afternoon of January 3, 2022 at his home in Lincoln, Texas after battling cancer for 5 long years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Edna Kieschnick; grandparents, Herman and Martha Kieschnick and Ludwig and Ottilie Winkler; brother, Fitzgerald “Fritz” Kieschnick; two brothers-in-law, Billy Walther and Rupert Jr. and Mary Deal; sister-in-law, Nellie Johnson; parents-in-law, Rupert Sr. and Clara Deal, and his nephew, Jay Pronk. Michael is survived by his wife Janet Kieschnick of Lincoln; two children, Joanna and Kevin Benavidez of Rockwall and Jeremy and Katie Kieschnick of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, Kasey Reeder, Connor Wilson, Jonathan Kieschnick, Alaina and Caleb Shreve, Cole Kieschnick, Wyatt Kieschnick, and Riesa Kieschnick; five great-grandchildren, Xzavier, Carter, Maverick, Emmett, and Alaska; two brothers, Rev. Clyde and Ellen Kieschnick of Abilene and Johnny and Brenda Kieschnick; two sisters, Jennifer Walther of Lincoln and Lynette and Calvin Patschke of Giddings; two sisters-in-law, Mary Kieschnick of Giddings and Norine and Keith Haston of Goodletsville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Pallbearers will be Brian Kieschnick, Justin Kieschnick, Cole Kieschnick, Wyatt Kieschnick, Trent Williams, Cade Patschke, and Connor Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leonard Schulze, Philip Kieschnick, Gary Beisert, and Eugene Schimank. Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln or the charity of one’s choice.
