Lillian Joyce Vavra, 78, of Caldwell, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Monday, March 7th in the chapel if Caldwell Brethren Church. Vanessa Mitchell will officiate. Joyce was born on June 28, 1943 in Summer Shade Kentucky to Lou Ida Wells and Glatus Witty. She was the youngest of five children. Joyce fell in love and married Albert Varva on Wednesday, March 3, 1999 in Deanville, Texas. She loved to fish, but most of all, she loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. Spending time with them filled her heart with joy. Joyce loved the Lord and enjoyed her church family very much. She was admired and loved dearly by those she worked with in her nursing career and will be remembered for her deep faith and kind heart. She always had a special place in her heart for the elderly. Joyce will also be fondly remembered by her friends at Wal-Mart where she worked for a short time later in life. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; three siblings; her daughter Leona Kay Cleveland and grandson Jeremy Brewster. She is survived by her husband, Albert Vavra; daughters, Anita King of Paxton Illinois, and Theresa Brewster of Bryan, Texas, and her son, Michael Compton of Pesotum Illinois. She is also survived by her five grandchildren; Kelsie and her husband Josey Vaughn, Mitchell and his wife Lauryn Brewster; Evan King, Curtis Compton and Evelyn Compton. The family wishes to extend a very special thanks to the staff at Lampstand Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, as well as Remarkable Hospice for their loving and dedicated care for Joyce, and family during this most difficult time.
