Lillian Leyendecker Lopez, age 92 of Thorndale, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2022 at her home in Thorndale. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Jimmy Hinostrosa officiating. Burial in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery near Taylor. Visitation is Thursday, March 10th from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. Mrs. Lopez was born March 14, 1929 in Frost, Navarro County, Texas to William and Janie (Cortez) Leyendecker. She lived in Thrall and then Thorndale since December 23, 2000. Lillian attended school in Lexington I.S.D. She worked at Thrall I.S.D. in the Cafeteria and then from home as she ironed clothes for the public for 21 years. Lillian enjoyed making quilts for her children and great grandchildren. She was a single parent who raised her children on her own and helped raise her grandchildren. She loved telling stories about how she picked cotton as a child, loved to do yardwork and loved to cook. She made homemade dresses for her daughters when they were growing up. Every morning, she would drink a cup of coffee before checking the mail and going on her daily walks. Mrs. Lopez is preceded in death by her parents, William and Janie Leyendecker; two sons, Joe Leyendecker and Simon Lopez; grandson, Jeffrey Scott Leyendecker; brothers, Ernest Leyendecker, Wilford Leyendecker, Odell Leyendecker, Willie Leyendecker, Jr. and Rudolph Leyendecker and one sister, Janie Cano. Surviving is son, Ben Lopez, Sr. and wife Margie of Rogers; daughters, Margaret Hinostrosa and husband Noe of Thorndale; and Pauline Leyendecker of Thorndale; brother, Otto Leyendecker and wife Sally of Bullhead, Arizona; sisters, Olivia Leyendecker of Thorndale, Elvira Cano of Big Spring, Elena Perry of Rosco, Margaret Veta of Rosco and Amelia Pantoja of Round Rock; 23 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren
