Dorine LaVerne Sistare Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral services for Dorine Sistare, 77 of Giddings, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Dorine LaVerne Sistare was born on March 23, 1945 in Giddings, Texas to Theodore Hermann Reinhardt and Alma Pauline (Menzel) Reinhardt. She was baptized on April 1, 1945 and was confirmed on March 22, 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Max Studtmann. Her confirmation verse was Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Dorine attended Giddings High School, graduating in 1963. She met her soul mate, Kenneth Sistare, at Ted’s Sweet Shop and they were united in marriage on July 4, 1964 at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Rev. Max Studtmann. In that same year they moved to South Carolina but returned to Giddings the next year in 1965. After moving back, they opened Ken’s Service Center that later formed into Ken’s Chrysler Plymouth until its close in 1990. She then went to work at the Texas Department of Public Safety from April 15, 1991 through February 21, 2013. After she retired from DPS, Dorine worked at the J Irwin Company in Bastrop from February of 2013 through June of 2016. Dorine was a bookkeeper for 57 years. Family always came first, but Dorine never hesitated to help anyone in need. God, family, and friends is what she lived by. Dorine was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend that anyone could ask for and she will be greatly missed. Some of the hobbies that Dorine had were reading, cross-stitch, crocheting, and word find puzzles. Other things that she enjoyed were filming and watching Nathan practice roping, watching Samantha’s achievements, and attending the musical performances of her grandsons, Zander and Raign. In 2018, she started helping with the memorials at Immanuel Lutheran Church until May of 2022. God called Dorine home on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at MD Anderson Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Alma Reinhardt; infant sister, Mary Ann; In-laws, Ned and Effie Sistare, and brothers-in-law, Wallice Mitschke, Milton Frosch, and Donald Willis. Dorine is survived by her husband, Kenneth Sistare of Giddings; son, Nathan Sistare of Giddings; daughter, Samantha and husband Julius Stevenson of Houston; grandsons, Zander and Raign Stevenson of Houston; brother, Edward and wife Ruth Reinhardt; sisters, Ruth and husband Norbert Pietsch, Frances and husband Melvin Zgabay, Violet Frosch, and Angie and husband James Frerichs; sisters-in-law, Lavilla and husband Ronnie Faulkenberry and Judy Willis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extend family, and friends. Serving as pallbearers are Anthony Muniz, Michael Frosch, Jeffery Zgabay, Richard Mitschke, Jodie Reat, Todd Chaddock, and Jim Bob Brent. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church General Fund or the charity of one’s choice
