Graveside services for Dollye Baldree, 89, of Holiday Lakes, Texas are scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. in the Giddings City Cemetery in Giddings with Rev. Patricia Wehn-Glowski officiating. Dollye Katherine (Edgington) Baldree was born on July 18, 1931 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Theodore John Edgington and Louise Adeline (Black) Edgington. She was baptized at Grace United Methodist Church in Hearne, Texas. Following her graduation from high school, she attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville where she met her first husband, Robert A. Yaeger of San Antonio, Texas. Together they had four children, Robert Jr., Cynthia, John, and Michael. In a later marriage to Milburn Crocker of Angleton, Texas, they together had a daughter, Rebecca. Dollye’s late life husband was Charles Baldree. Dollye always took an active role in the communities in which she lived and in particular, the community of Holiday Lakes, Texas. She was one of the first permanent residents of Holiday Lakes (1967) and was throughout her residence there instrumental in developing it into an official city as well. Dollye worked hand in hand with the city Secretary and multiple boards. She served as the Community Center Director multiple times and taught crafting classes at the center, managed the city swimming pools, volunteered her time with various community fundraisers and auctions, and helped with the publicity of these events. She was also active with the local fire department and youth auxiliaries. She enjoyed the many facets of planning and working toward the improvement of lives and works that also called Holiday Lakes home and its people family, friends, and neighbors. But these roles were service. Her hire for pay work in her life was a fashion illustrator for Sax Fifth Avenue, an executive secretary for Cudahy and Roeglin meats in San Antonio, owning a social club, and her very favorite adventure--working with her best friend at her friend’s business, “Trading Post”. Dollye passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at The Legacy Nursing Facility in Bay City, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Robert A. Yaeger Jr.; her three husbands, Robert Yaeger, Milburn Crocker, and Charles Baldree; and her sister, Joy Drury. Dollye is survived by her four children, Cynthia Weatherford & husband, Dewey of West Columbia, John Yaeger & wife, Conni of Austin, Michael Yaeger of Washington, and Rebecca Davidson & husband, Paul of Angleton; her five grandchildren, Denita Carlton of West Columbia, Hunter Weatherford of West Columbia, Destinie Burton of Brazoria, Makayla Yaeger of Washington, and Samuel Davidson of Angleton, and four great grandchildren, Kaylee (Carlton) Davis & husband, Darrel of Florida, Tyler Carlton of West Columbia, Shiloh Southwell of Brazoria, and Dakota Burton of Brazoria. Serving as pallbearers will be John Yaeger, Michael Yaeger, Hunter Weatherford, Samuel Davidson, Paul Davidson, Israel Carlton, Tyler Carlton, and Dewey Weatherford.
