She was united in marriage to Calvin Kermit Koether on June 21, 1952 at the First Baptist Church in Giddings by Rev. H. McLerran. Brennice worked many years as a waitress at Placke’s Restaurant, Harlan’s Restaurant, and Old House Café. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Giddings where she had been active in the church’s Relay for Life team. She also volunteered her time with Rejuvenation, the Dime Box Heritage Museum, and visited the residents in the local nursing homes where she would often hand out candy. She was also a faithful member of the unofficial Brookshire Brothers 2 o’clock Coffee Club. Brennice enjoyed cooking and baking, especially her famous chicken and dumplings and cakes and pies. She was a people person who enjoyed helping others and making people laugh. Brennice was never concerned being the center of attention. Brennice and Calvin were always their granddaughter’s biggest fans, attending and cheering for her and her team during most of her games throughout high school and college. Brennice continued her support when Caitie became a coach at Round Top-Carmine High School where she could often be found cheering her and her team on from the stands. Through the years, she received many titles and even awards such as Miss Sweet and Low, but the one that brought her the most joy was “Nana/Nanny”. She loved being Nana/Nanny not only to her own grandchildren, but to many others as well. Brennice passed away the afternoon of Saturday, February 26, 2022 at her home in Giddings. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Sue Dodd; her husband, Calvin Koether; two brothers, Dan Dodd and Bert Dodd & his wife, Katie, and five sisters, Sue Norene Dodd, Effie Sweatman & her husband, Yancey, Nancy Regiene & her husband, Nolan, Sue Marie Placke & her husband, Robert, and Dorothy Koenig & her husband, Bill.
