Apolonio "Paul" Godinez

Funeral services for Apolonio "Paul" Godinez, 73 of Giddings, Texas, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the First Assembly of God in Giddings, Texas with Pastor Pat Herlitz officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Apolonio “Paul” Godinez was born on November 1, 1948 in Gregory, Texas, the son of Ezekiel and Isabel (Oyervides) Godinez. He married Norma Gonzales and they shared a beautiful life for 46 years. Paul worked for Dell in Austin for 22 years before leaving in 2006 due to medical reasons. While living in Austin, he enjoyed helping his neighbors and friends with projects around their homes, and volunteering at church. He liked to go bowling and loved to fish. What he loved most was spending time with his family, He was happiest when he was surrounded by his grandchildren. Paul passed away quietly in the early morning of Sunday, February 13, 2022 in Red Rock, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezekiel & Isabel Godinez; his son, Gilbert; two sisters, Mary, and Julia; and three brothers, Ezekiel Jr., Jessie, and Johnnie. Paul is survived by his wife, Norma Godinez of Giddings, Texas ; six children, Steven Godinez & his wife, Grace, Ralph Acosta, Randy Acosta, Johnnie Godinez, Donna Godinez, and Lauren Neuman; ten grandchildren, Vanessa Godinez, Joseph Godinez, Nina Godinez, Ariana Godinez, Sophie Godinez, Eric Acosta, Destany Acosta, Tiana Acosta, Frankie Acosta, and Markie Acosta; three great grandchildren; five sisters, Yolanda, Dora, Gloria, Alice, and Janie; five brothers, Manuel, Joe, Tony, Guadalupe “Blue”, and Oscar, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Vanessa Godinez, Joseph Godinez, Nina Godinez, Ariana Godinez, Frankie Acosta, and Eric Acosta. Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God in Giddings, Texas.
