Funeral services for Alene Reuther, 88 of Giddings, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau, Texas with Rev. Garrett Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Alene Elvira Herzog Reuther was born on August 20, 1933 in Fedor, Texas to Oswald and Tillie (Seelke) Herzog. She was confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau. On April 12, 1958, she was united in marriage to Monroe Reuther at Christ Lutheran Church and were blessed with two children, Cheryl and Darrell. Alene had numerous jobs throughout her life, but her pinnacle career was working at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home for twenty years. Her most important priority and joy was her children and family. She also enjoyed cooking, and tending her yard, rose bushes, and garden. Alene will be remembered for her charity and kindness to others, her joy for preparing delicious meals for the holidays, and her humble pleasure in taking care of her children and raising them in a Christian home. She was a very active, lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church and relied on the assurance and promises of her Lord and Savior. Alene passed away the morning of Monday, June 13, 2022 in La Grange. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oswald & Tillie Herzog; daughter, Cheryl Iselt; son-in-law, Eugene Iselt; daughter-in-law, Pat Reuther; brother, Raymond Herzog; sister, Faye Bentke, and stepbrother, Lloyd Boettcher and his wife, Jane. Alene is survived by her son, Darrell Reuther of Lincoln and his fiancée Maribel Lucio of Giddings; granddaughter, Jamie Rodgers of Giddings; two great grandchildren, Aubrey Rodgers and Isaiah Salcido of Giddings; brother-in-law, L.D. Bentke of Lyons; two nephews, John & Becky Bentke of Granbury and Steven Bentke of Lyons, and one niece, Tammie & Shawn Witt of Bowie. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church in Loebau or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
